Southern rapper Trinidad James was robbed at gunpoint in New York City and forced to sing, “N*gga, n*gga, n*gga,” while stripping down to his undies … at least that’s the rumor making the rounds online. The robbery was allegedly orchestrated by Brooklyn rapper Maino who took exception to James making some rather incendiary comments about New York’s rap scene.
“What the f–k happened, dog? Us in the South, us ‘bammas, we just did our own thing. But now we run y’all musically. That’s crazy!” James said during a recent performance in Manhattan. “I’m not trying to start nothing, but if you want to do something we can do something because I don’t give a f*ck. I’m just being honest with you. I looked up to New York music. But now every n*gga that’s really popping out of New York, you might as well say he’s from Atlanta.”
Those comments led Maino to fire a few warning shots James’ way on Twitter, but did he really have the rapperrobbed? James took to Twitter to address the rumors, denying any such thing happened.
“Of course Y’all gone keep making s–t up. Y’all n*ggas can’t make no money. Sh*t y’all n*ggas can’t even make a difference. So I get it now. Focus on your Goals and the people who wanna see you win. F**ck everybody who don’t believe in you,” James tweeted.
At this point, we’re going to believe Trini. If he was really robbed and forced to sing the “Gold Everything” hook, as funny as that would be visually, we’re sure the video would have appeared on Worldstar by now.
