Vh1 Divas Unsilent Night Recap

[Billboard] VH1’s beloved Divas franchise made its return after a four-year hiatus with a holiday spin. The Unsilent Night special, airing Monday night (Dec. 5) at 9 p.m. ET/PT, brought powerhouse vocalists like Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle, Vanessa Williams and Teyana Taylor together at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre for an hour-long extravaganza filled with Christmas tunes and sizzling performances despite the frosty weather.

Before the star-studded concert hits small screens, here are seven festive highlights from the VH1 Divas‘ comeback show.

Mariah Carey shimmers for “All I Want for Christmas Is You” performance

Decked in a revealing red and gold number, Carey rode in on a grand red sleigh and performed the night’s opening number surrounded by male dancers, dressed as toy soldiers, for a glamorous rendition of her 1994 holiday classic.

JoJo, Serayah and Bebe Rexha gift beautiful Darlene Love cover

The singers formed a trio for the special occasion, delivering their own tingly rendition of Darlene Love‘s 1993 offering “All Alone on Christmas.” Each songstress was adorned in a golden dress, adding extra shine to their stellar performance.

Remy Ma brings hip-hop to the holidays

The Terror Squad MC turned the festive spirit all the way up with her own take on the Run-D.M.C. jingle “Christmas In Hollis.” Gold chain, black shades and Bronx attitude included.

Diana Gordon delivers sultry version of “Jingle Bell Rock”

Diana Gordon, responsible for penning the twangy standout “Daddy Lessons” off Beyoncé‘s Lemonade, soaked up the spotlight with a subdued version of “Jingle Bell Rock” as the crowd swayed along.

Vanessa Williams nails “Save the Best for Last”

After an emotional introduction from her daughter, Lion Babe‘s Jillian Hervey, the beauty queen glided onstage and proved time had no bearing on her vocal prowess as she slayed the chart-topping power ballad from 1991’s The Comfort Zone.Image result for vh1 divas unsilent night

Teyana Taylor heats up the stage

With a red coif and billowing white ensemble, the G.O.O.D. Music songstress — who dominated the Internet with her on-point bod and dance moves in Kanye West‘s “Fade” video earlier this year — added her own flavor to Eartha Kitt‘s 1953 gem “Santa Baby.” The cameras also followed Taylor and her Cleveland Cavaliers star husband Iman Shumpert, as well as their adorable baby girl Junie, into their home and showed how they rang in the holidays (Taylor even jokingly sang the “Batman Smells” rendition of “Jingle Bells”).

The Godmother of Soul performed a special duet with the Queen of Funk for a vibrant rendition of Aretha Franklin‘s ”(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” followed by Khan’s “I’m Every Woman.” The night’s leading ladies joined the veteran divas on-stage for an Instagram-worthy display of girl power.
