Sunday’s Message: Does forgiveness have a limit?

We always want to put limits on forgiveness, but in fact we are limited ourselves from actually healing. The bible tells us to forgive a person up to “seven times seventy.”

Point 1:

No one has hurt you like you hurt God.

He is nothing but good to us all the time but we continue to hurt God. However, he gives us unlimited grace and forgiveness.

So why aren’t you forgiving those who hurt you? Haven’t you wanted forgiveness when you hurt someone?

Point 2:

If we keep tabs on how many times a person hurts you are storing your anger for that person. Since the bible tells us to forgive a person 7×70 times…this equal 490. If you remember all 490 times people hurt you…you have to much time on your hands. You are giving people to much space in your head when you do not forgive.

Forgive EVERYONE that has hurt you. Forgiveness is not for them, its for you. Holding on to grudges will only stop your own growth. You never know….the person you forgive may be your very blessing.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. – Matthew 18:21-22
