Designer Mieka Joi of Rich Girl Candy and Project Runways Samantha Black had a fashion show last night. Overall, the night was filled with a hand full of celebrity and friends, as well as fashion, of course. Fashion was just not on the runway, but everyone that attended the event was fashionably in style. Even the venue gave the show a more stylist look.
The event was sponsored by Emma Cosmetics, Pucker, Dusse, Cavoda Vodka and Salon Lamaj. Guests also received complimentary make up touch ups post the show (Gotta look good around all these celebrities). Amongst the slew of celebrities, V. Bozeman of FOXs Hit TV series EMPIRE, performed her hit song, “What Is Love.”
My last day of fashion week ended with a few designers. Amongst the few was, Heart & Noble. How many of you guys remember as a kid when you would create small images with beads and iron them to stay together. Well, Heart and Noble is the adult version. I must say, I like the adult version of the iron beat art. Especially, when you are greeted with an option of spiked coffee or vodka lemonade, and a yummy dairy-free/gluten-free frozen dessert from “ByBreanne.”
After speaking with the designer, Cri Gabriele, she stated that her collection this season was inspired by New Yorkers wanting to be fashionable, yet comfortable. That seems to be a thing that a lot of designers this season are seeking, “comfortability.” Well, Cri has definitely found the median between comfortable and fashionable.
I must say, this was one of the best shows I have been to in all the years I have been covering New York Fashion Week. Carrie Hammer did a great job with putting on a show that not only showed off her collection but inspired others to strive and make it to the top. Instead of having your typical models walk the runway, Carrie was innovative with having leading women in their careers strut their stuff not only showing off Carrie Hammer’s collection, but flaunting their job titles and accomplishment along with it. This show has sincerely inspired me to keep working hard to make it to that executive level that I am destine to be in, and purchase some of those jackets (What?!?, Those jackets were HOT!). See what I am talking about below.
